‘I’m a Music Kinda Guy’
Most of my colleagues and friends know I'm a musician first, a computer guy second and cooking enthusiast third. That being said, most of my friends don't know that I have an album and a site with many tunes and ditties - Houghtoonz.com.
With that in mind, I thought I'd favor y'all with some examples of my work.
1) Hey Lady - my intentional jump into rock/country music. Ironically enough I wrote this as a tribute to my wife at the time only to be separated about a month later. Please, no tears, it's all in the past and kinda funny.
If you want to hear more, go to: http://houghtoonz.com/mish-mosh-pit - this is my first album and the styles are all over the place. I’ll warn you some of the production and performances are a bit rough.
2) Various Ringtones - Back in the day when changing ringtones on your phone was relatively easy, I wrote little 30 second ditties that looped nicely.
Now, with homemade ringtones basically a thing of the past; these serve as little musical nuggets with no purpose. Perhaps in the future our toaster ovens and microwaves will have the capability to have it's "I'm done" sound switched out with and my creations will have new life!
Nevertheless, here's some examples of my ringtones. If they peak your interest, you can go to http://houghtoonz.com/ringtones to hear more and feel free to download them in preparation for the coming appliance revolution.
3) Meme tunes - a while back, my son suggested I write a tongue-in-cheek tribute to a Pylon in Starcraft II that had achieved a bit of amount of notoriety thanks to a YT vid by HuskyStarcraft. I wrote this song, sent it to Husky and he posted it on YouTube - it got over 1 million views, I sold over 500 copies on iTunes (before fucking music streaming ate the music industry) and was programmed by someone (with my permission) for Rock Band.
Here it is and couple more that I wrote as send-ups for YouTubers and WOW players I liked.
If you want to hear more of these, please go to http://houghtoonz.com/themes
This is just a taste of what I’ve written over the years. I have many more in the works, perhaps another album!
Let me know what you think, well-intentioned comments whether critical or raves are encouraged.
PS - I know I’m old-school, so please put your retro-ears on when listening - I’m not trying to dethrone Post (or ‘Pre’ for that matter) Malone - it’s just me.
Lastly, please remember, in the words of George Clinton of P-Funk fame - "Free your mind and your ass will follow"
Cheers!
