‘Saturday Morning Breakfast’

When showing my kids in computer class how to edit in Premiere, I often assign a project called "Life's Little Pleasures". In it, I ask them to choose five 'events' in their daily routine that bring them pleasure. Often they choose morning coffee, walking the dog, playing video games, etc. That being said, I sometimes participate along with them and make my own list - and at the top of the list is 'Making Saturday Breakfast!’

Homemade bread and a spinach-heavy frittatta!

There are few things in my weekly routine that I look forward to more than making some kind of kick-ass breakfast - from Belgian Waffles to omelets, frittatas and pancakes. I don't do anything particularly fancy but I do go all out and almost always include BACON!!!

Nothing compliments a sweet or savory morning meal like the smoky, salty, crunchy glory of a well-cooked piece of bacon - had a bite of waffle with syrup? - want to switch over to a bite of scrambled eggs? punctuate the transition with a bite of thinly sliced, crunchily-cooked cured pork belly!

BTW, my favorite way to prepare bacon is to cook it on a sheet pan in the oven at 375 degrees F for about 12-17 minutes (always check on it after 10 minutes in). The bacon comes out consistently crunchy (I like mine so when you pick it up it's rigid - might be compensating, there, fellas).

Life’s little pleasure? Make Saturday Morning Breakfast Life’s Big Pleasure and regardless of what I make or how long it takes to make (we often have brunch, not breakfast), it's the ritual of taking the time to make the family's morning meal with NO F-ING RUSH! You got me? You understand? My time is MY TIME, y’all and you can’t touch dis - so BACK OFF!

…Oops! sorry, got a bit off the rails there - I’m good, nothing personal...

Sooooooooo, happy SMB to you all and enjoy your free time.

Cheers!
